When the crew of the spaceship Churchill enters an extraterrestrial spacecraft, they make a terrible discovery: leathery body shells of apparently desiccated creatures.

A British space mission to explore Halley's Comet discovers a mysterious flying object in its tail. On board they find the bodies of two unknown men and a seductively beautiful woman in a deep sleep. They begin to salvage the bodies, triggering a catastrophe. When the spaceship lands back on earth, it is burnt out and the crew is dead except for Commander Carlsen. The three passengers plunge London into apocalyptic chaos as blood-sucking aliens. As the only survivor of the research mission, Carlsen takes up the fight against the destruction of humanity - and against Mathilda May, who takes the audience's breath away as an erotic and terrifying alien.
