Les Rendez-vous d’Anna

For Chantal Akerman’s characters, being on the move rarely means arriving anywhere. Anna, a filmmaker traveling through Germany, Belgium, and France, moves from hotel to hotel and station to station, encountering strangers, former lovers, and—ultimately—her mother. Yet each of these encounters promises closeness for only a fleeting moment, without ever truly establishing it... It is the portrait of a nomad—present everywhere yet at home nowhere—whose whereabouts seem as provisional as her relationships. Beneath the casual conversations about love, family, and everyday life emerges one of Akerman’s most personal films: a meditation on a life in which everything remains in motion, yet nothing changes.
