La Reserva (The Reserve)

A village in Chiapas, Mexico. Most people here make their living from coffee farming. When Julia, who is responsible for protecting the nature reserve, hears the sound of chainsaws in the night, she knows that danger is imminent. The struggle that ensues is complex – on the one hand, Julia must first convince the villagers that protecting their land is worth taking risks; on the other, the intruders may not be what they seem. This film is not only exceptional in its form: the strong resilience of its protagonist makes it a tribute to female resistance.
