La Misteriosa Mirada del Flamenco (Der geheimnisvolle Blick des Flamingos)

1982. In a mining town in Chile, an unknown deadly disease is spreading. Legend has it that it can be transmitted through a single glance—precisely at the moment when two men fall in love.

In the same town, 11-year-old Lidia is raised by trans women in a large communal family. The group constantly navigates between a self-created, magical idyll and violent structures from the outside. This creates striking imagery in which time seems to stand still.

In his feature film debut, director Diego Céspedes explores the intersections of myth and violence with impressive visuals and elements of magical realism.
