La memoria infinita – Die unendliche Erinnerung

FromMaite Alberdi

WithPaulina Urrutia, Augusto Góngora

Year2023

Duration85min.

Paulina and Augusto have shared their lives and their passion for 25 years: the art of words. When Augusto was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014, it meant a major turning point in their lives. The physical and mental changes began gradually. With a lot of affection, patience and humour, "Pauli" tries to be a support to her husband and make the time they have left as beautiful and worth living as possible.

The Chilean journalist Augusto Góngora was a prominent chronicler of the crimes of the Pinochet dictatorship and campaigned throughout his life to ensure that the crimes of this period were not forgotten. His wife Paulina Urrutia is a famous actress and was Chile's Minister of Culture from 2006 to 2010. Director Maite Alberdi (EL AGENTE TOPO) shows the couple's struggle against the loss of memory in a respectful and empathetic way. She masterfully combines scenes she shot herself, archive footage and Paulina's video diary. She shows moments of despair and pain as well as loving and humorous moments. A tender, intimate portrait of a great love.
