Kontroll
Bulcsú, a ticket inspector, is trapped within the bleak, labyrinthine tunnels of the Budapest metro system. Together with his colleagues, he contends with petty, fare-dodging crooks and battles a rival elite of inspectors for dominance in the tunnels—until a series of mysterious deaths and the appearance of a pink bear disrupt the desolate, everyday existence of these outcasts. Under Antal’s direction, the public transport network is transformed into a grim enclosure, its cold, Kafkaesque atmosphere leaving the characters gasping for air. Striking a balance between action cinema and auteur film, "Kontroll" unfolds as a pitch-black comedy and a stylish tour de force—set in a world that has long since abandoned reality, yet one that feels chillingly familiar today.
