Kinetta

FromYorgos Lanthimos

Year2005

Duration95min.

Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos' debut is an eerily gripping film about alienation.

Kinetta is a holiday resort that is currently deserted and mainly inhabited by migrant workers in the off-season.
A plainclothes policeman with a penchant for cars, tape recorders and Russian women is investigating a series of murders that have recently been committed in the area. He enlists the help of a photo shop employee, a solitary young man who occasionally shoots video films on private commission. The third member of the trio is a chambermaid with acting ambitions, who is supposed to play the role of the female victims. Guided by the policeman, this strange trio re-enacts the murders one after the other - with attention to detail but of questionable criminalistic value.
