The four-part portrait documentary KERNSTÜCKE focuses on dedicated individuals from four Austrian municipalities who are working with conviction, courage, and perseverance to shape the future of their communities. In Villach, Zellerndorf, Gallneukirchen, and Seeham, mayors, local officials, and committed residents demonstrate how sustainable community development can succeed despite tight budgets, heritage protection regulations, and initial resistance.

Rather than focusing on individual projects, the film puts the people themselves at the centre: their attitudes, their motivations, and their personal journeys towards initiating change.
