Kämpfende Herzen

By day, Harry Yquem works as a successful broker, but at night—incognito, of course—he is drawn to seedy dives. Ostensibly, he goes there to acquire a valuable piece of jewelry for his beautiful wife. However, he spots a man whom he believes to be a former lover of his spouse. Jealousy soon spirals into a dangerous game... Contemporary critics described this gem—lost until the 1980s—as a "dizzying whirlwind of passionate encounters, temptations, and threats [...] that leaves one's head spinning and satisfies even the most demanding imagination." In many respects (double lives, doppelgängers, the intertwining of crime and the elite), it can be seen as a precursor to the "Mabuse" films.
