Jew Süss

This historical drama, based on Lion Feuchtwanger’s novel, recounts the rise and fall of Joseph Süss Oppenheimer. Indispensable at court yet simultaneously unwelcome, he navigates a world of political influence and growing hostility. Conrad Veidt portrays him as a shrewd, strategic man whose power is perpetually on shaky ground. At the time of its making, the film stood as a resolute counterpoint to the anti-Semitism of Nazi Germany.
