Inside Amir (Daroon-e Amir)
Like so many young people around the world today, Amir is planning to leave his homeland. We follow the young Iranian through his daily life. Alongside fragmented memories, we see him on endless phone calls with his girlfriend, who is already waiting for him in Italy. But we also see him meeting up with his colourful group of friends and family, in an atmosphere full of mutual love and warmth. A sense of melancholy pervades these moments of togetherness, for all of this could soon be over. Amir himself is torn: should he go or stay? Time and again, he is out and about on his bicycle – a symbol of his thirst for freedom. Riding it, he seems like a foreign body amidst all the cars on Tehran’s streets. Gradually, the day of his departure draws nearer. (IFFMH)
