In My Skin

Marina de Vans’ feature film debut, IN MY SKIN, is a quiet, deeply personal and, above all, physical horror drama that literally gets under your skin. The director, who uses the screenplay to reflect on her own story, also takes on the lead role, thereby delivering a quasi-DIY work that could prove a great source of inspiration for aspiring filmmakers.

The monotonous daily life of a hitherto unremarkable office worker in her early thirties is thrown off course following a party. The wound she has sustained fascinates her more than it frightens her. Instead of letting it heal, she obsessively observes every change in her flesh. Soon she begins to inflict new injuries upon herself. Whilst those around her react with increasing bewilderment, she sinks ever deeper into an intimate relationship with her own body…
