In film nist (DIES IST KEIN FILM)
In December 2010, Jafar Panahi was sentenced to six years in prison and a 20-year ban on working in his profession for ‘propaganda against the system’. Under house arrest, he describes a film he is not allowed to make. That this rebellious thought experiment, smuggled into the Cannes Film Festival on a USB stick hidden in a cake, should become a key work of political cinema is as logical as it is paradoxical.
