Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS

From Don Edmonds

With Dyanne Thorne, Gregory Knoph, Tony Mumolo, Maria Marx

Year 1975

Duration 96 min.

Language English

When *Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS* hit theaters, Nazi-erotica was one of the most successful subgenres in the world of exploitation cinema. Yet why did this particular film become so famous? Likely because Edmonds so aggressively exploited the myth of the "Commandant" of Buchenwald—Ilse Koch, who was accused of the most horrific crimes following World War II. Although almost nothing could be proven against her, the legends persisted—because human-skin lampshades, torture, BDSM, and sex amidst dehumanizing conditions always stir the darker recesses of the human psyche. And *Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS* offers all of that in spades. (Olaf Möller)
