The extent to which the Manson Family’s crimes shook the US is evident in the sheer volume of exploitation films that put their own spin on the hippie dream—a vision of drugs and sex for all that morphed into an All-American nightmare of subservience, abuse, and mass murder. *I Drink Your Blood* adds yet another, rather surprising element to this already potent cocktail of Satanism and LSD—set against an allegorical backdrop somewhere between a near-deserted backwater town and a massive construction site: a rabies epidemic.
