In the near future, a mysterious being discovers a world devoid of humans and sets out to uncover the cause of humanity’s disappearance. It follows clues from the past – audio recordings of conversations with renowned scientists, made before the extinction – and uses them to create its own documentary: HUNGRIG.

What initially appears to be an environmental film quickly turns into a ‘thriller’ – an investigation that brings hidden connections to light. Experts discuss the disastrous development of food policy, the decline in agricultural diversity and the power of corporate monopolies – until an oppressive picture emerges of a future increasingly controlled by economic and political powers.

Whilst the protagonist searches for those responsible for this extinction, the film reveals what has destroyed the food supply, disrupted labour markets and led to the decline of democracies – until a final twist casts everything shown in a new light. Could humanity still be saved?
