Hope

The humorous, original, and gripping sci-fi action thriller HOPE was met with acclaim from critics and audiences alike at its world premiere in competition at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival.

After all reinforcements are withdrawn to help contain wildfires and communications break down completely, Bum-seok, the chief of the Hope police outpost, and police officer Sung-ae fight to protect a village inhabited largely by elderly residents. Meanwhile, Sung-ki and several other villagers venture into the surrounding mountains to track down a mysterious beast—only to soon become the hunted themselves. What begins in ignorance sets off a disaster that, fuelled by human conflict, escalates into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.
