HIGH TENSION
Alex and Marie, two university students, had actually intended to swot up for their upcoming exams. Alex’s parents’ secluded farmhouse seemed the ideal place for it. But the idyllic tranquillity is abruptly shattered when, one night, an unknown killer in a yellow jumpsuit breaks in and wreaks havoc. For the young women, a relentless chase begins, in which the menace erases any sense of distance. As an early representative of the movement known as New French Extremity, HIGH TENSION goes all out for confrontation right from the start. Behind the explicit surface (special effects: Fulci veteran Giannetto De Rossi!), however, lies a disturbing shift: a tour de force that truly lives up to its title.
