Monte lives alone with his daughter Willow on a spaceship whose original crew are no longer alive. Flashbacks reveal that the crew, under the supervision of the doctor Dibs, were subjected to medical and reproductive experiments. Monte, who defied the mission’s rules, is left behind with Willow and, in the vast emptiness of space, tries to take responsibility and imagine a future independent of others.
