HERZBLUTWIESE STADTWERKSTATT

From Claudia Dworschak, Tanja Brandmayr

Year 2026

Duration 110 min.

Language German

The essay film *HERZBLUTWIESE STADTWERKSTATT* explores feminism, equality, and equity at the Stadtwerkstatt, the longest-running autonomous art and culture center in the city of Linz.

Since its founding in 1979, the Linz Stadtwerkstatt has been a hub for autonomous cultural work at the intersection of art, media, and social intervention. The essay film looks back on this eventful history while simultaneously bringing feminist perspectives into focus.

Through archival footage, interviews, and artistic works, a multifaceted picture emerges of a place where aesthetic innovation and political engagement are closely intertwined. In the process, it also becomes clear how women have helped shape the Stadtwerkstatt over the decades and why questions of equality and visibility remain pressing to this day.
