Hagazussa – Der Hexenfluch
Sometime in the 15th century: Albrun, a young goat herder, lives in the seclusion of the Alps. After her mother’s death, she is shunned by others. Many years later, she has a daughter of her own – the father remains a mystery. Her attempt to befriend a well-meaning neighbour ends in disaster … With his remarkable and unsettling directorial debut, Austrian filmmaker Lukas Feigelfeld delivers a prime example of elevated horror without being contrived. The barren landscape and the harsh struggle for survival shape the imagery just as much as the increasing shift in perception. What begins as social exclusion gradually tips over – until external threats and internal experiences merge into a nightmare of images and sounds.
