Year 1932

Duration 67 min.

Screen poet Ralph Turnheim has unearthed the very first zombie film and fearlessly brings it back to life. With a live voice-over performance, he casts the forgotten monster masterpiece WHITE ZOMBIE (1932) in an entirely new light.

Haiti, 1932: Count Bonmont is madly in love with Mathilde. But she is due to marry her fiancé Kurt today. The count has only one chance: to strike a pact with LeGrind, played by the magnificent Bela Lugosi. Through the power of voodoo, LeGrind turns people into mindless zombies. Why not the beautiful Mathilde, too? The count hesitates. On the way to the altar, Bonmont makes one last attempt to win the white bride without resorting to black magic ...

Ralph Turnheim transforms this chilling tale into playful Viennese rhymes. His version premiered at Vienna’s Off-Theater in collaboration with the bernhard.ensemble. Now, the screen poet brings every character to life using nothing but his voice. This resurrection is an experience not to be missed!

With live musical accompaniment by legendary silent-film pianist GERHARD GRUBER!
