Flammendes Inferno (The Towering Inferno)

In San Francisco, Duncan Enterprises’ 138-storey skyscraper is being inaugurated. Even before the celebrations begin, a short circuit occurs in the building’s technical control room. Doug Roberts investigates the incident and is annoyed to discover that the developer and company owner, Jim Duncan, and his son-in-law, Roger Simmons, have scaled back the required standards for the electrical, safety and fire protection systems to the legal minimum.
