The program opens with a playful experiment involving the artist's own portrait. "Meomsa" associates images with texts by Friederike Mayröcker, spoken by Libgart Schwarz. In a nocturnal city scene, the words "Kino" (cinema) and "Sex" appear in neon lettering; they stand as symbols for the erotic space that unfolds between the protagonist and compositions of fetish-like objects. In "Picture Again", Barbara Stanwyck—as she did in "Moving Pictures", this time appearing in a scene from Billy Wilder’s "Double Indemnity"—inscribes herself into a cinematic space constructed by Christanell from iridescent multiple exposures, thereby generating the magic of cinema. "Ende – Film", the first part of Christanell’s Nazi Trilogy, fragments Nazi language and symbols, allowing the essence of terror to emerge painfully. Finally, "Carrousel deux" also employs artistic methods of deconstruction and, drawing on Jacques Prévert, poses the question of the (im)possibility of love. (A.P.)
