Everest – Die andere Seite
We are delighted to present the new film by Jimmy Chin, which takes us to the north face of Everest in breathtaking cinematic images. Jim Morrison and Hilaree Nelson are among the world’s elite ski mountaineers. Together, they dream of climbing the direct north face of Everest and skiing back down, tackling one of the most challenging lines in the Himalayas. But in 2022, Nelson dies while descending Manaslu. What begins as a film about a spectacular adventure becomes a deeply personal story of love, loss and the question of how to carry on after a devastating tragedy.
Three years later, Morrison returns to Everest. On 15 October 2025, he achieves what no one has ever done before: climbing to the summit via the “Everest Super Direct” route and then skiing down the legendary Hornbein Couloir, descending around 2,700 vertical metres on slopes of up to 50 degrees. Jimmy Chin is right there with his camera, capturing every moment.
The Oscar-winning filmmakers behind FREE SOLO combine spectacular imagery with an intimate portrait of two people whose shared dream reaches beyond death.
