Over the past three decades, Ken Jacobs has dedicated himself to a wide-ranging exploration of the digital medium. After shooting his first video in 1999, he developed new methods of image creation. This unprecedented digital body of work—rarely seen in Vienna—still appears to be far ahead of its time. The selection includes works that breathe new life into footage from the dawn of cinema (or even earlier) by pairing it with soundtracks by Steve Reich, Rick Reed, and JG Thirlwell. The monstrous and powerful "Seeking the Monkey King" rails against US politics via intertitles that interrupt a pulsating abstract landscape.
