Ženya is right at home in the nightlife scene. The buzz, letting go, even the demanding men – all of it seems to come easily to her, even though in many ways she has a harder time of it than her friends. But Ženya is self-assured. She is proud to be inter and trans, and lives out her gender identity and sexuality with confidence. Madina Mustafina portrays her and her queer underground community in a radically intimate, raw digital aesthetic: low resolution, unfiltered (body) language and, at times, a touchingly tender accompaniment through the process of transition.
