The world through the eyes of a donkey: EO. His home was once a travelling circus in Poland, where he shared a loving bond with his caretaker, Kasandra. But when the two are separated, EO embarks on a journey to Italy – traversing a world of chance encounters and cruelty, yet also unexpected moments of humanity. At times he crosses paths with soccer fans, an eccentric countess, or a young priest; at others, he becomes a silent witness to the darkest depths of human nature. With this homage to Robert Bresson’ s masterpiece AU HASARD BALTHAZAR, Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski creates a radically unique cinematic experience that captivates with hypnotic imagery, extraordinary sound design, and emotional power. EO is far more than a film about an animal; it is a moving road movie – a visually and musically stunning, experimental parable about compassion, freedom, and our relationship with the natural world. It is a film as unusual as it is unforgettable – one that lingers in the mind and heart and even turned half of Skolimowski’ s film crew into vegetarians.
