Endometriose Film Festival
An initiative by Ranya Schauenstein in cooperation with nationwide endometriosis associations and local self-help groups.
Five years after the premiere of nicht die regel, the documentary returns to Stadtkino, and this time with more! To mark the anniversary, director Ranya Schauenstein is organizing Austria's first Endometriosis Film Festival. The programme includes the documentary as well as the artistic short film Hysterical Sisters (Chiara Schreder, 2021), which is also celebrating its anniversary. “Endometriosis has gained a lot of public awareness over the past five years, but many aspects of the condition remain invisible. On this evening, we want to explore some of these perspectives,” says Ranya Schauenstein.
In addition to the two disease-awareness films, the chronic condition endometriosis will be examined not only from a medical perspective, but also in terms of employment and social law. Experts will discuss these topics in a panel following the screening. The two filmmakers will also talk about the background to their films and the role of cinema in communicating medical knowledge.
