Eagles of the Republic

George Fahmy, Egypt’s most popular actor, falls out of favour with the authorities overnight. Soon, the film world turns its back on him too: roles are recast, producers avoid him, and the press launches a smear campaign. In his desperation, Fahmy finds himself forced to accept the role of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in a patriotic, kitsch biopic. And the fallen star does his job well – too well. He is drawn into the inner circle of power and becomes a puppet in an inscrutable web of lies and intrigue.
