Dreams – Gefährliches Verlangen
Young Mexican ballet dancer Fernando dreams of building a successful artistic career in the United States. Determined to pursue a better future, he makes the dangerous decision to cross the border into the U.S., risking his life to start anew in San Francisco with his lover Jennifer, a wealthy and influential woman. Despite his talent, ambition, and passion for dance, Fernando struggles to find his place in the fiercely competitive world of professional ballet. At the same time, his unequal relationship with Jennifer begins to take a darker turn, and the future he envisioned slowly starts to unravel.
In his third internationally cast feature film, Mexican director Michel Franco (MEMORY, DESPUÉS DE LUCÍA) once again explores the darker corners of the human psyche. Told with his trademark restraint and visual precision, this deeply affecting drama examines toxic power dynamics, racism, and social inequality, ultimately unfolding as a powerful and unmistakably political allegory.
