A black comedy about the little nastinesses that can only be found within a family.
Anna and Charlotte are constantly competing with one another. At least, that’s how their mother Ines wants it, favouring one at times and making sure the other feels it. Nevertheless, the dissimilar sisters – one queer and non-conformist, the other a supposedly tough, successful woman – return to the house of their childhood in northern Germany. Old wounds are reopened and well-kept secrets come to light: whose ashes is their mother hiding? What links her to a Czech donkey farm? In their search for answers, the dissimilar sisters find new trust in one another.
