DIE TAGE WIE DAS JAHR shows the agricultural work of the farming couple Gottfried and Elfie Neuwirth in a remote corner of the Waldviertel over the course of a year. The couple have opted for organic farming and are largely self-sufficient thanks to self-marketing. Gottfried Neuwirth says that he sees himself more as a guardian of his land than as a farmer focussed on increasing yields.

The film explores the deep structure of a realised dream of an autonomous life in harmony with nature, sounding out its processes, laws and rules and using serial narrative techniques to make them tangible.
