Die Praxis der Liebe
A dedicated journalist finds herself up against the male-dominated power structure in the media and politics: her investigations are not published and remain relevant only to her and her private life. They concern the exposure of an international arms-smuggling ring in which her lover is involved (the Noricum affair was unfolding in Austria at the same time), and a report on paid sexual services. CCTV footage from the urban landscape, along with passages of photographic and video art, reinforce the gloomy atmosphere in 1980s Vienna. EXPORT also highlights a fundamental discrepancy: female sexuality and heterosexual eroticism (the main character has two lovers), combined with an intellectual spirit, lead to energy-sapping conflicts and bitter disappointments.
