die Migrantigen
‘Cruel, astute, courageous’ was the headline in Rolling Stone magazine, while the TAZ described it as ‘hilarious’. And with more than 80,000 visitors, Die Migrantigen not only captured the hearts of cinema-goers, but also took third place in the Austrian cinema charts for 2017.
Director Arman T. Riahi, who also wrote the screenplay together with the two lead actors Aleksandar Petrović and Faris Rahoma, presents a politically incorrect comedy about modern clichés, false identities and supposedly ‘real’ foreigners in his multi-award-winning feature film debut. In it, two friends pose as unemployed petty criminals with a migrant background for a TV documentary series – until the tables turn and the reality they have invented catches up with them in an extremely entertaining way.
