After his mother is diagnosed with early-stage dementia, the once highly successful photographer Michael Appelt, in his early fifties, moves back into his old childhood bedroom. Traumatized himself by a long hospital stay, he tries to navigate this new situation as a caregiving relative.

Reiner Riedler's documentary is a personal portrait of a friend and companion, addressing essential themes of human existence, aging, and confronting the inevitable.
