From the moment Maya is born, she is different from the other bees. Her teacher, Cassandra, can only marvel: a bee who starts asking questions before she has even taken her first step out of the hive. But Maya doesn’t just ask questions. She also wants to discover the exciting world of bees as quickly as possible. No wonder her very first outing turns into an adventure.
There is so much to discover in the poppy meadow. Maya and her sleepy friend Willy nibble honey from the flowers of the Bumblebee General and drift across the lake in a lemonade bottle. It’s wonderful. But wait! There are dangers lurking among the flowers and blades of grass, too. Luckily, the friendly grasshopper Flip always keeps an eye on the two little runaways. But when Willy starts believing that he is an ant, even Flip is at a loss…
