Derek vs Derek
Two neighbours, two farms, and two completely different visions for the future of the English countryside. In the idyllic county of Devon, both men are named Derek: one relies on intensive farming and maximum food production, while the other has given his farm back to nature.
What begins as a dispute over the garden fence develops into a humorous yet provocative debate about who nature belongs to and how we want to use our land. On one side, cows, fields, and yields are the priority; on the other, beavers return, ponds emerge, rare species are reintroduced, and the wilderness begins to reclaim its space. But the return of nature also brings conflict: wildlife crosses boundaries, neighbours feel their lives are being disrupted, and everyone’s patience is put to the test.
DEREK VS DEREK combines quintessentially British humour with a timely debate about farming, biodiversity, and climate change. An entertaining and thoughtful documentary about the difficult search for a way forward that everyone can share.
