The artist Hanne (Dagmar Manzel) and the retired pastor Bernd (August Zirner) are in a happy marriage—one that has grown somewhat routine over the years—when, out of the blue, Hanne’s ex-husband Kurt (Harald Krassnitzer) shows up at their door. Due to his dementia, Kurt can no longer remember that he and Hanne have been divorced for 20 years. When the couple takes him in temporarily, a lightheartedness they thought was lost returns to their marriage. But the more time passes, the more their life together falls apart.
