A scathing portrait of an opportunist who blindly follows authority and has internalised the principle of ‘kissing up and kicking down’, thereby making it all the way into local politics; staged as a keenly observant satire and performed by Werner Peters with grotesque precision. The critique of the bourgeoisie becomes a historical explanation for National Socialism – and, at the same time, an ideological justification for the new socialist state.
