In 1933, just before the Nazis seize power in Germany, an ocean liner sails from Veracruz to Bremerhaven. Stanley Kramer's adaptation of Katherine Anne Porter's acclaimed novel features an outstanding international ensemble cast. Released in 1965, the film won two Academy Awards® for Best Black-and-White Art Direction and Best Black-and-White Cinematography, and received six additional Oscar® nominations, including Best Actor for Oskar Werner.
