Cycling Cities

What makes cities that actively promote cycling such great places to live? And what solutions are needed to make this possible? Journalist and filmmaker Ingwar Perowanowitsch spent two months cycling across Europe. He set off from Freiburg, camera in tow, and visited bike-friendly cities such as Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen, Hamburg, and Copenhagen, all of which have long embraced cycling as a means of transportation.

In conversations with urban planners, political decision-makers, and cycling advocates, it becomes clear that better cycling infrastructure is often not a question of space, but of political will.
