Crimes of the Future
A craving for pain, microplastics as a snack, massages to aid digestion: in this dystopian world, where comfort has become the supreme principle, humanity no longer feels any physical pain. An accelerated evolution syndrome ensures the constant transformation and formation of new organs. Performance artists Saul Tenser and Caprice declare this mutation to be a new discipline – and surgery to be the new eroticism. With their public organ operations, they attract the attention of both the government and an ominous underground movement. After 20 years of gestation, Cronenberg creates a melancholic invitation into theatrical spaces to philosophise about the technologies of the self and the rediscovery of intimacy.
