Chhora Jastai (Shape of Momo)
Bishnu returns from Delhi to her home village in the Indian state of Sikkim – and is immediately confronted with the expectations of those around her: when is she finally going to get married? In a household where four women from three generations live together, it becomes clear just how deeply patriarchal structures are still ingrained. Bishnu no longer fits in; her ideas are different, and her momos – the traditional dumplings – are not up to standard. Drawing on autobiographical elements, Tribeny Rai tells a story of self-determination, class relations and the courage to defy convention.
