Cas Pidlotu (Time to the Target)

During the filming of this movie, Lviv was around 1,000 kilometres from the nearest front line – roughly the same distance by road would take you to the Austrian border. Russia’s war of aggression is ever-present in western Ukraine too: over the course of more than a year, Vitaly Mansky follows life in the city, caught between everyday existence and a state of emergency. Recurring protagonists include the members of a military band and a cemetery worker – funerals, memorial services and air raid sirens set the rhythm of the city.
