Callas, Darling

Julia Windischbauer's feature film debut takes us from central European rest stops through south-eastern Europe to finally end up in the Albanian coastal town of Vuno. While Marie is accompanied by suicidal thoughts, her fellow traveller Gerlinde has a completely different mission in mind. In this story, the relationships and emotions between the characters ultimately become the real goal of their journey. The hostel owner and the open-hearted cliché hipster also come together while drinking schnapps. They all arrive with baggage from the past in order to look at life in the here and now with new eyes. CALLAS, DARLING impresses with its sensitivity and allows us to reflect on life and intergenerational relationships.
