Following an old Albanian tradition, Fran lives as a "sworn virgin"—like a man. However, after a death in the family, she finds herself compelled to confront her feminine side—specifically, maternal feelings toward her adolescent niece. Set against the backdrop of a patriarchal society, the drama explores the conflict between social role and personal emotion.
