Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist meet while herding sheep on a remote stretch of Wyoming wilderness, so isolated that their own thoughts seem to echo like cries. What begins as a seasonal job gradually turns into an intimacy that surprises and unsettles them both. When the summer comes to an end, something remains between them that cannot simply be left behind, even as they return to lives that offer no place for it.
