Brief Encounter

The farewell scene at the train station made film history: two people who can't get together, even though Laura and Alec (both married) have tried week after week to meet up after their first encounter - including at the cinema, where else? - are faced with the decision of continuing their affair or never seeing each other again. The story of social constraints and unfulfilled longings develops an enormous emotional pull. (Brigitte Mayr)
