What remains when the last eyewitnesses fall silent?
AMBASSADOR OF REMEMBRANCE follows Holocaust survivor Stanisław Zalewski, born in Poland in 1925, who endured a total of 600 days in Nazi prisons and concentration camps. At the age of 13, he witnessed the German invasion of Poland and the outbreak of the Second World War. At 18, he was arrested by the Gestapo for his connections with resistance groups and deported to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, then to Mauthausen, and finally to the Gusen concentration camp in Upper Austria. Today, Zalewski tirelessly travels across Europe, sharing his story with young people to ensure that the crimes of the past are never repeated. Over the course of three years, director Magdalena Żelasko and cinematographer Michał Kozioł accompanied the survivor back to the places that shaped his fate. Drawing on more than 100 hours of footage, they created a deeply moving documentary about remembrance, humanity, and the responsibility of future generations. A powerful testament against forgetting and to the resilience of hope in the face of unimaginable suffering.
